This year we were lucky enough to build two wedding marquees at The Downs School, as well as marquees for other various events. It is a sublime venue, and we were truly grateful to have the privilege of returning there.
Both marquees greeted guests with a Chinese hat entrance and a matting walkway that led guests inside. The surrounding walls were ivory pleated, except the front and one length of the marquee which had clear panoramic windows looking out onto the beautiful scenery.
One wedding was styled with round tables and Chiavari chairs. This marquee was decorated with white pom poms and bunting made by the mother of the bride. At the back of the marquee was a reveal curtain, behind which the dazzling, sparkly dancefloor was situated. Star cloth roof linings and a parquet floor created a funky nightclub feel.
The other wedding marquee had long trestle tables running the length of the marquee with hessian runners and Gypsophila’s that decorated the tables exquisitely. Stunning Olive trees stood either side of the top table. Once dinner was over, the top table was removed and a stage was set for the band. Purple and lilac lights were lit up around the stage to create an area for the guests to dance as the band played their music.
It just shows you how different marquees can look with a little bit of imagination.
