A New Year’s Eve Wedding Marquee

We were extremely honoured when Zest Events asked us to erect a daringly extravagant marquee for a New Year’s Eve wedding in Shipton Moyne. The ceremony took place at the local Church and once it had finished, guests followed a trail of uplighters along a path to the bride’s family home where our marquee stood. This structure consisted of three main areas connected by long walkways, all built on hardwood flooring.

As guests arrived at the marquee, they hung their coats and were moved into a reception room which was covered with ivory pleated linings. Guests were met with music, champagne and antique furniture that stood over a rich red carpet. Guests mingled and chatted about the year they’ve had and the year to come.

Once reception drinks were finished, guests walked down a long winding walkway which opened out into the dining room. 5m wide panoramic windows walls ran along one side of the marquee which looked out onto the client’s home. Burgundy linings covered the roof and walls, and purple uplighters were placed at every leg, making for a dramatic setting.

Long banquet tables ran the length of the room. They were dressed with silky red floral cloth that draped to the floor. The tables were laid with dazzlingly polished silver and delicate flowers. Towering above the smallest accessories were candelabras in which ivy ran up, for a theatrical centre piece.

All of these details made it feel like a dining room fit for a king and queen.

Hidden away at the other end of the dining area stood another room, dormant until after dinner. This area was dressed in star cloth roof lining and black walls. A bar to one side detailed with tartan panels on the back wall and velour drapery down the front. In the central area, furniture was arranged for those who wanted to watch the dancing, or take a breather from dancing of their own. Waves of music filled the room, and guests would take to the sparkly starlit dancefloor and party till the late hours.

Together with Zest, we transformed our marquee into a royally exquisite wedding. There is no such thing as too much decadence.
